Dad makes the 99 sing yet again

My 77 year old Dad came up this weekend to try his luck as he does every year. He hunts with a Savage Model 99 that a number of folks on here are familiar with by now. He had this 8 pt come out with 6 does just after 7 this morning. The buck was interested in one of the does. He called me a couple of times a bit anxious about how wide he might be so I talked a bit and told him if he thought he was 13" to take him. He shot him around 7:15. I admit when I first saw him I was skeptical but as it turns out he was right at 13". Glad he got him another one. Now the guns will be silent on my place the rest of the season as he is the only one I let shoot firearms here. Nothing against them, just my preference.

I had a Savage Model 99e in 308. Winchester as well. My Granddad bought me that gun. My first gun.

Some scum broke in my Pickup on Christmas Eve 1999 and stole it. I loved that gun.
