Need help replacing chainsaw fuel lines...

I need to get my chainsaw running to cut some cedars for huntin(now it's hunting related)

I have to replace the fuel lines to my Poulan chain saw. Problem is... it is a very tight squeeze between the fuel line and the fuel tank hole. I have tried to lubricate the hose, but to no avail.

What is the trick to getting the line down into the tank????

I was thinking about cutting the line diagonally and once thru the tank, get some kind of long clips(like roach clips or doctors clips) to pull it through. The regular needle nose pliers are not long enough.

    Advice / suggestions appreciated.

    thanx,

    David

I've done it on a weedeater by sticking a piece of thin wire thru the hose near the end. Secure the wire by twisting it on itself, run the wire thru the path you need to take, then pull the fuel line thru.

      Hope this helps.

Sorry, David. I'm not familiar with that. Maybe someone will know.

        Good Luck

What about using a pair of hemostats. They are fairly small.

Bubba, needle nose won't reach where these are.

Been there tried that. Good idea though

I need something itty bitty with pinchers.

                    David,

Did you try the wire? It will work. The kind I used was like tie wire, but about half the diameter and real flexible. Don't know what you call it, but it is shiney.

                      shooter,

Naah... hadn't had a chance today. too much baseball. I'm gonna try tomorrow. I have some 6-8" muzzle loader cleaning things that are (small) wire based. I'll try those.

When I replaced the hoses on my weed eater, they didn't fit all that tight in the tank holes and leak a little.

cut the line diagonally. take a nail and punch a hole in the end of the line and put a piece of wire on it. run the wire through the hole on the chainsaw and then pull the line through. the best wire is "picture frame hanging wire". it is really flexible but also really tough.
