Tough to let him walk, I think he'll be close. If he's not "Oh well" nice buck.

His few deducts will probably keep him out. Heck of a deer though. But is he even old enough for y'all to want to kill? Trying to age your deer just kills me...
Ditto on all that. Your deer are pigs. We have some 250+ live weight bucks and yours seem to dwarf ours.

Our deer seem to really pack on the pounds at 6.5 and older. Their horns peak at 4.5-5.5 depending on the rain they get. Our 7 of our top 10 deer have been 4.5-5.5. Weirdest deer I have ever been around? I think because of the body mass they pack on in the older years our deer rut harder as they get older instead of less and I think that hurts their antlers more because of the recovery phase.

I also think on this place that is a result of too many deer, and certainly too many big and old mature deer. Heck I think we have more 8.5+yr old bucks than most places have just mature bucks.

That is good and bad, lots of targets but, I think it is just another obstacle in the deer game.

I tell you what, this would be the 5th deer I would let go that I thought had a chance at sure enough Booner status. Three I never saw again after they lost that years horns, 1 I saw show up in a deer contest and 1 I found dead in a stock tank. When I found him he did not make book but, he was missing a g1 and broke about 5" off a G4. When I saw him he would have made it but, barely. He was a 6x7 and was 4.5.

I cannot tell you how many deer in the 160's I have let walk at 3.5-5.5 that were never seen again. It makes me sick!

I have had the obsolute worse luck letting deer go of anyone I have ever met.

So moral of the story, he gets close, I think he books he gets an arrow or bullet. I am not holier than thou on big deer, I will kill them any legal way I can. Not to mention this deer is not in a really good area for me to want to leave him. If I don't kill him by the rut the odds of him leaving me are pretty dang good.

I get my eyeballs on him you will most likely see a LDP of some sort. Just depends on what he looks like for real! I think he could be a 6.5yr old. he has a big body and a huge chest. I think he is a 225lb live weight deer. That little buck is a crummy 3.5 at 180lbs live weight I would guess. I kill the big deer that crummy deer is in trouble next!

Whack him. If he makes book great, if not you will have a mean set of rattling horns

On a more serious note, that's an awesome deer.

You should take him with a bow to be safe.
