Keep it dry and freeze it. The important thing is to keep it dry until you get it in a freezer.

Take it to taxi or freeze until you can. Might as well get in line before the gun hunters at the taxi and take it now.

Take it to the Taxi. If you can't then freeze it, now.

Don't let it get wet and freeze it solid if you can't get it to your taxi. He will thank you for that!

Just freeze it. Chances are you have already gotten it wet in the ice chest. That is not ideal, but it won't really hurt it. The rule of thumd is to keep it as cold as possible and as dry as possible.

Depends on how long it will take you to get to the taxi. If you can't get pretty soon, freeze it. If you can get there soon, just keep it as cool as possible. If it isn't frozen solid when you get it there, maybe they will get started on it sooner. If it is frozen, they have to thaw it first.

Ok thank you guys, I put the cape into a trash bag and kept it on ice because it wont fit into my freezer, but it did get it a little wet, i let the cape dry a little and then put it back into the ice chest, hope i didnt screw it up!!!

When I caped a deer for a shoulder mount, I went back to 1/2 way between the front and rear legs, I was told the taxidermist would rather throw out a yard and be short an inch. Hope it comes out the way you want it to.

When I skin a deer myself, I just bring the whole hide. He can throw out what he doesn't need. The first deer I caped I didn't bring him quite enough so I was a little limited in the pose and he wasn't able to show off the full size of the neck.
