This weekend we went up our land in North Texas for bow hunting/vacation.
We hunted all weekend from friday night to monday morning. Things seemed to be stacked against us the whole time. The first hunt of the trip the lady we lease our land for her cows to graze on comes driving through our place honking and yellin for her cows. The one place she decides to stop at and yell and honk at was right in front of my stand for nearly 30 minutes.
The whole trip I only saw 2 deer before the last hunt which was a cold very windy hunt. I leaned back in my stand to keep from deer seeing me, I can barely see the top of the feeder, I hear a sudden slam of metal and i look up and see a buck run off into the woods, I"m thinking great I wasnt paying any attention and I blew my shot at the only deer to come out. I look and see he hasnt ran far and all I see our his feet. I know his stomache is gonna get the better of him and it does 10 minutes later he comes out back giving me a perfect shot.
I draw back to shoot while sitting down and i see that the arrow will hit the wood infront of my stand. I let the bow go forward to let down the arrow, hoping the arrow not fall of the string. I stand up with out him seeing me and i draw back and shoot.
I gotta tell you that the deer never heard or saw me and my Hoyt Alpha Maxx did the job just like a charm. My muzzy and carbon express arrow blew right through him. He ran only 20 yards.
that was one of the best feelings when i walked up on him and i knew i got my first deer that I fought through alot for.
