    How long does deer meat last in the freezer?

    Found some stuff from 2007. Wondering if its still good.

    Ive eaten deer meat a couple years old.

    as long as its always been frozen, I wouldnt have any problem eating it.

        I just grilled up a nice chunk of back strap from a deer killed Nov 07 last night and it was just as tasty as can be.
        I cool storage (34 -36 degrees) my game after processing and let it age for 14 - 18 days, then freezer wrap then vac/pac and have gone 3 years before and the meat is still tasty.

          Go for it. I actually had some backstrap from my 07 deer last night. Great stuff!

            As long as it is not freezer burnt it should be fine- give it a good marinade or make some chili or stew.

            I just made an Irish Stew last night with 07 backstrap and dove- if you like guiness this is a great recipe.

              Sounds like everyone on here thinks it is still okay. I can't say because none of my venison ever lasts that long. We will eat it 3 to 4 days a week until we run out.

                I would say it depends on how it was wrapped and if there is any freezer burn on it....2 years is a long time and quality could be not as good as 1 year old meat....

                              Never had any deer meat last that long in the freezer!

                              But I would say if it has been frozen the whole time and is sealed good (no visible freezer burn) then go for it!

                              If you don't have one, invest in a food saver!
