I have a 98 Jeep Wrangler. I just put a tow bar on the front of it and wanted to know what I need to do to tow it correctly. I also wanted to know what maintinace things I can do to make sure I don't get stuck on the side of the road. It is a standard trans. It is also in great shape I drive it fairly regular. My lease is 400 miles from the house so 800 miles round trip. Thanks for any advise you might have.

iod is under the hood.. you pull it on long tows (behind r.v.s and such), storage and they usually pull them while they are sitting on show room floors.. It just keeps the background stuff that is puling power while the ignition is off from draining the battery... its under the hood but wont really matter for a short term tow..

I have always been told to put the transmission in the highest gear and put the transfer case in neutral.
But.....dont take my word for it.Ultramatic Feeders
We're paratroopers, Lieutenant. We're supposed to be surrounded......

Just make sure everything is in neutral and freewheel.
I have a Mule now due to the fact that my jeep did not make a flat tow from Laredo to Houston. A trailer is the best way but you can do it. Slow and steady

I was always told (and done) tranny and T-case in neutral for trips of 100 miles or so and unhook drive shafts on longer trips to save bearings in T-case that are lubed when it is in neutral. With that said the previous owner of my jeep pulled it to CO and back without pulling the drive shafts and had no trouble.
