Question on a good load for elk.

I got invited on a rifle elk hunt last week and I need some help selecting the best bullet to get the job done.

I have never hunted elk before so this is all new to me. When I use a rifle for whitetail I shoot a .270 Federal Premimum pointed softpoint boattail with a 130 grain bullet.

Any help on choosing the right .270 load for elk would be greatly appreciated.

I leave next Wednesday so my time is getting short.

Federal premium Barnes triple shock. Check out how they group from your rifle before the hunt. You may need to re sight in your gun.

Agree with going to 150 grain...they are big animals.

Somewhat of a friend of mine (grin) recently killed this one on our ranch with a 25-06 while it was trotting away and dropped it in it's tracks
