Am I reading the rules correctly?

It says in the outdoor annual that none of the nonresident five day or special licenses are valid for deer hunting. Does that mean that any nonresident has to buy the $315 license in order to hunt deer? Even if they're just hunting for a few days? Thanks for the info! My cousin from Oklahoma is interested in coming down to Texas but isn't interested in the $315 part.

hunting license, or a nonresident five-day special hunting license.
        (c) A nonresident possessing a valid nonresident trapper's
license is not required to have a license issued under this section
to take or possess the species governed by the license.
        (d) No nonresident may hunt a turkey during the spring
turkey hunting season without first having acquired a license as
required by Subsection (b) of this section or a nonresident spring
        turkey hunting license.
        (e) A nonresident may not acquire or possess during a
        license year:
        (1) more than one nonresident spring turkey hunting
        license; or

        nonresident spring turkey hunting license.
        (f) A nonresident landowner or the landowner's agent or

My Kansas tag and license cost me nearly $400 last year.

          Seems only fair

Seems like the distinction is if you hunt exotics (cheap) but add whitetails then $315

If you compare it to other states non-resident license I bet you'll find it's quite the bargain!
If I didn't think my opinion was right, then it wouldn't be my opinion. So, any other opinion must be wrong, therefore stupid.

Really? That's surprising, I didn't realize that $300 wasn't out of the ordinary. You would think that they would have a five day deer license or something. Say an out-of-stater spends $500 for a weekend deer hunt at a day lease, then has to spend nearly the cost of the hunt for a license!

I don't mean to rant, it just seems crazy.

                      I'm glad I've got a lifetime license.

I can live anywhere and still come home to hunt in Texas, for free!

Is that for just deer though? Or does that include bigger game too?

Oklahoma Non-Resident Tags Aren't That High.

Except that you have to buy a tag for Bowhunting, a tag for Muzzleloader, and a tag for Regular Gun Seasons. The tags aren't interchangeable.

                          200.00 a pop.

the $300 one covers all game huntable in TX. I do know Ohio costs $165 + processing fee for liscense, buck tag, and one doe tag. And additional doe tags are available over the counter for like $17.
