I'm hunting in tall grass and lots of underbrush. So to me I love my climber. There has only been about two places that I had thought about setting up a pop up but moved a little off the beaten path and found an even better place to set up with my climber.
The good thing about the climber is it'll let you see down into the grass instead of having to try to look through it.

I like pop ups, they are flexible locations that don't require that perfect tree, but I think they have to set a while to let the deer get used to them. I used one on some public lands, the deer seemed to just stare at it, then run for their life. I guess you could brush it in real good into a cedar tree or something, but then you loose that advantage of portability and fast set up.
Just my opinion. I don't really like climbing way up in a tree out in the woods by myself either in case of a slip, but you get better visibility.

I guess a lot depends on where you hunt. But, not to rack your brain over it, just get both!!

I haven't figured out the scent containment deal with pop-ups yet. When you open the windows, your scent is blowing in the wind. There's always a wind in West Texas, so I get busted by noses often anytime I'm on the ground. Doesn't matter how many times I shower and wash my clothes in scent-free soap and spray down everything possible with scent killer spray....deer smell you. Pop-ups aren't much warmer than being in the open either, in my experience so far. Again...open windows (or at least blow-through mesh). They're definitely warm when it's sunny and hot outside though.
They sure do conceal movement well. They are great for taking my son with me - much better than tree stands for that.
I put up a 15' ladder stand this year to try to get some scent blowing higher and farther away from my setup. So far, no luck in that blind, but we've only hunted during crappy moons so far.
We'll spend most of next week in a pop-up at the Matador. Portability is a big plus. If we can find a good spot to set up downwind where they can't circle even farther downwind before coming in, we'll be in business.
