Finger nail polish (clear) if your don't want to have the color on you. It smothers them, they can't breath. I remember getting into a bunch of them at Fort Benning.

The best thing i have found is once you scratch them open use Hydrogen Peroxide on a Q-tip and dab it on each one repetitively, rinse with water and repeat a second time. Do this and they quit itching for me....I think the H202 Bubbles them out. JMO....O and to keep them off use a flea and tick collar around your ankle on the outside of your boots...they wont mess with you anymore. Unless the grass your in is up to your eyeballs.

Well I'll start by not knocking this untill you try it . I fill the bath tub and add about 3 bags of ice . You get in and stay as long as you can stand it . You dont get chiggers in the winter time because the cold or a freeze kills them . The same works here I guess . IT WORKS tried and true

What is the treatment for chigger bites?
Many home remedies for chigger bites are based upon the incorrect belief that chiggers burrow into and remain in the skin. Nail polish, alcohol, and bleach have been applied to the bites to attempt to "suffocate" or kill the chiggers. But because the chiggers are not present in the skin, these methods are not effective.
Treatment for chigger bites is directed toward relieving the itching and inflammation. Calamine lotion and corticosteroid creams may be used to control itching. Oral antihistamines, such as diphenhydramine (Benadryl), may also be used for symptom relief.
And if you've been outdoors and you think you may have been exposed to chiggers, take a shower and scrub your legs with soapy water. They are easily killed...before they have a chance to harm you.

Not advise for hunting but when I am working at the lease or anywhere chiggers are present I use sulfer. You can get it a a farm supply or feed store, Put the sulfer powder in a tube sock, tie the end off and use it to slap around on your shoes and legs.
Store the filled sock in a plasic coffee can or tupper ware.
I learned this from a friend that learned it in the scouts. It works great and to my
suprise you really can smell it after you apply it.
