2.5 hours in the stand+Fat Doe at 17yds+Rushed first shot of the season = Arrow flying over her back. OUCH!!! Oh the pain...Oh the misery.

What made it worse was that the doe stumbled when she was running off and snorted several times. When she went down blowing, I was sure I had made a high lung shot even though I knew the arrow went too high. When I checked the arrrow, it was completely clean. Nothing but the mud on the tip where I buried it into the ground.
I was so calm about the miss that the guy I was hunting with thought I must be superman. I waited until he drove off before breaking down like an upset 5 year old. It is lousy to relive, in vivid color mind you, the mistakes that lead to a bad shot. At least I didn't wound her and have to back out.
