Can I give away deer meat and if so, anyone interested?

Assuming I were to shoot a deer this season, after tagging, quartering and legally transporting it to my house, would it be legal to give the meat to any takers?

Assuming that's not a problem, anyone willing to travel to Frisco (N. of Dallas) for some deer meat? Again, that's if I get a deer. It would probably just be chunks of meat cut off the bone and soaked in ice water - nothing fancy.

I'm still working on last year's deer and have been told to finish that before I add anymore to the freezer. If you might be interested, respond or shoot me an email.

You can give it away once it is processed and bagged legally.....if you were closer I would take it.......check with your local church to see if there is a family in need that could use it........I give my extra pork to a single mother with two kids.........

I got a bunch of last year's deboned meat in my freezer if you need it, Junior.

Time slipped away and never made sausage or anything out of it.

I believe that you have to have a wildlife resource document with the meat? There's one in the back of your outdoor annual.

Yes, you can give it away. Once it is processed, no need for any further documentation. If another person has it before final processing, it needs the wildlife resources document to prove that it wasn't taken illegally. Once ground, cut up, made into sausage, etc., it is like any other meat EXCEPT that you can't legally sell deer meat.

There is no fee for donating the meat at these places. The tag stays with the meat if you are donating the entire deer. If you are keeping the rack, you will need a WRD to go with the head.
