    Snake Boots

I was wondering whats yalls input on snake boots were. In the 15 years that I have been hunting on this lease in Webb County I have only seen 1 snake and it was a Blue Indigo but hearing more and more about the more sittings and killing of rattlers on our place is making me wonder if I should get some Snake boots. Are they the way to go or should i get the plastic wraps the go around your shins or maybe some think brush pants. What do yall wear?

snake boots over plastic or chaps any day of the week!!!

There are plenty of good boots out there that will work. It's kinda like buying a bow, try 'em all and see what fits you the best.

Mine are Red Head zip ups........ best fitting boot I have ever put on out of the box. If they made 'em in steel toe I would wear them at work I like 'em that much!

I just got a pair of RedHead side zip. I love them more room over the calf than the pair of Rockies that I used to use.

I just shot a 3.5 - 4 ft rattler on my place in Edwards County over the past weekend--so I wear them when I'm out there all the time!!!!

I have a pair of Danners but I'm not really happy with them but that could just be my funky feet. They rub blisters on my heels. I would definately recommend the boots instead of the chaps. I have a buddy that tried his out by letting some rattlesnakes bite him and they bit him on top of the foot about 98% of the time. So make sure your whole foot is covered.

Maybe testing should be done with Non venemous species...Just a thought. Glad his boots work!

i've tried the chippewa boots, but i don't like them. i use snake chaps and love them. they help to keep the brush from snagging my jeans as i walk through the brush. the only down side is during dove season when it's still warm, they don't breath.

I am also a fan of the Red Head Bayou Zip-up Snake Boots. They are waterproof and comfortable right out of the box. Mine haven't been snake tested, but they've been gator tested and passed.

Looks like they are on sale now for $99.94

How much of a pain are the chippewa pull over style boot to get on and off? I'm needing a new pair. My magellan snake boots have been a superb purchase for the the last 3 years I've had them, been super comfortable, water and cactus proof and were cheap. Just looking for a bit taller boot now.

I've tried the Chippewa's, the Justin's, and the Danners. The Danner lace-ups blow the others out of the water as far as comfort. The lace-up system on the Danners is quick and easy too.

I have a pair of Rocky Prowlers that fit great. They are a little warm for hot weather.
