Sika Buck hit by car in Georgetown

About ½ mile west of I35 on hwy 29 I saw what I thought was a hog. Dark brown/black shaggy hair. As I got closer I saw antlers… What?, naah couldn’t be. So, I turned around and went back to look.
Sure enough, it was a Sika buck dead on the side of the road. I didn’t know there were free ranging exotics in that area.

I hunt on 3405, west of 35, and the landowner has seen axis. TC last year also got a couple pics of axis.

How messed up was it??? I am thinking dog food...............

Mike, it did not looked messed up at all. It is/was about 200 yards west of the farm & ranch feed store.

Txtimetravler - I have heard of Axis over by 3405.

The pasutre across from the feedstore on 3405 is ate up with Axis. River Ranch looses a few each year. The make it to Liberty Hill and hit the river.

i saw that on friday. if i remeber right wasnt it near a high fence. maybe the fence has a bad spot in it.

Not sure that we are talking about the same deer. Where this one was, there are no fences at all. Pretty much next to the feed store just west of the mall there on 29 before the big church.

I've had an axis cross 3405 in front of me down by the turn to River Ranch. I wish they would come about 3-4 this way and hang out in my backyard for 5-10 min. I would definitely shoot it if I saw it out there.

I'll see if it's there tomorrow when I drop Nick off at school. He goes to the pre-school there at the big Baptist church. I'm assuming that's the big church you are talking about.

I live on 3405 and see axis all the time. I killed a sika on a friends place across from the feed store that Cantexduck mentioned. I counted 58 axis in the field across from the feed store.

I saw him this morning also. The area between georgetown feed and walmart has hogs deer axis I drive that route every night about 23:00

We had 3 axis hang out in Serenada for months a few years ago.

We had a BBQ at a friends house years ago. Hand feed corn to a doe and a young buck.(axis) I wouldnt be able to live in Serenada.
