Ameristep "The Choice" Pop up blind review

I am really pleased with this pop up. In addition to the 360 degree windows you can actually see out through the walls too yet you can not see in from the outside. The windows are made up in such a way that they are on cords that slide open and they use magnets instead of velcro so they are really quiet. There is plenty of room to draw your bow, it sets up quickly and with minimal effort, seems to blend into cover well I give it two thumbs up. Here are a few pics of mine that I took this weekend at the ranch.

I'm still undecided about mine. while the ability to at least see movement thriugh the mesh and netting, I don't feel like I am as concealed. also I know my scent is not contained as well. and I don't like the window system. they sag and come disconnected so they end up with gaps and openings. and there is the problem when it rains.

I am sitting in the blind in the third pic and you cant see me. I think it conceals well. As far as the windows go you have to make sure and line up the magnets on the window with the ones are the blind (orange squares in pic one) and that should get rid of the sagging. As far as the rain you have to put the rain fly up. It is in a zippered bag inside. Make sure you run it on top of the carbon rods (between the rods and the mesh). I sat in mine from 3pm till dark in the rain yesterday and never got wet. As far as scent goes I think you will need to address that no matter what you hunt out of.

            Not yet.

I mainly got mine for early season hunts,it will not contain our scent but it wont bake you out ether.
I have a amerastep matrix for late season hunting.
I also give the "choice" blind 2 thumbs up

Thats the whole purpose of hunting out of a ground blind. (SCENT CONTROL)

Yeah but all yer winders are closed. Gonna be hard to take a shot out of that.

As to the magnets, well they suck. When mine got wet, the material weighed them down enough that they sagged and none of them were still connected. I also had the rain fly up,I keep it up, helps darken the inside of the blind. As long as I sat in the middle I stayed mostly dry, but there was still water pouring inside the blind. Sounded like the proverbial cow pissing on a flat rock when the water would pool up until it couldn't hold any more then start dumping.

As to the scent control thing, a blind that is at least solid fabric with closeable windows will contain most of your scent unless you just flat out stink.

Still undecided. When/if I kill a deer out of it, then I might be convinced that it will work. I will say that the strips of material make it disappear with minimal brushing in. I wish the blind manufacturers would take note and put that on a "traditional" pop up.
