    Shot placement question

So as of last night I was going to be sitting on my butt opening morning crying as i imagined what i should be doing. I got permission to sit out on the little piece of land. I dont care if it has anything, Im jsut happy to be hunting.

    So heres my questions....

If something walks out and I shoot. where should i shoot to make sure the deer doesnt go more than 20 yards. Should i go for a shoulder shot in hopes that ill pin them and then shoot again? Is that possible of a buck? How far would a buck go with a double lung shot?

The only deer I've had go less than 20 yards were spined, not on purpose. I've had a couple of 30-40 lb pigs go down and stay down when shot through the shoulders. Good luck!

Put it right behind the shoulder about 1/3 of the way up the body. Take a good quartering away shot if you can get it, broadside is good too. Depending on your setup and BHs, he shouldn't go more than 50 yards. Do NOT aim for the shoulder bone, you won't make it through and you'll just wound him.

Either of those BH will put the hurt on a deer. Good luck and shoot straight!

I am trying a grizztrick for the first time myself, I am a BIG MUZZY fan but I liked the way this one looked so I think I will try it first! Good Luck!

shoot them quartered away and exit out the far shoulder is what seems to be the least running an animal does besides a spine shot. Seems when you enter fartehr back and break the far shoulder they dont feel like running and hunch up and usually crash within 30 yards.

The only shot you can make with a bow that will guarantee the deer won't run more than twenty yards is if you spine him. Are you planning on hunting that close to a fence where you're worried about the deer running off the land you have permission to hunt? If so, it would probably be prudent to make arrangements with the neighboring landowner to let you track anything you shoot.
