For you 40+ Guys with Less Than Perfect Vision

Sorry for the length of this post, but I hope some will find some value in it.

When I turned 40 it was like a bell went off and my eyes just didn't work for me anymore. I chose to get contact lenses that I could see far off with and just use reading glasses close up.

Guess what? I could see the target perfectly, but had no idea where my sight pins were. Some told me about a Verifier peep which is like having reading glasses for your pins, but there goes the target - now you have to shoot both eyes open which I really don't do. I'll do it in extremely low light, but I am just not very consistent that way.

I went back to the eye doctor and got lenses that I can read with. Now I can see my pins, but not the target.

On my Monster XLR8 I decided to try something different. This is a very different bow, and I bought it to have fun with, so why not? I bought a Viper Predator MicroTune sight with a 4x lens. I also bought an 1/8" 1x Clarifier peep sight. Perfect.

Now I can see my sight pins just as clearly as a youngster, and I can see the target beautifully and I see it 4x bigger than do the others.

The Viper Predator MicroTune is a little louder than I like, but it works very well. You bet your butt I'll be hunting with it - that's why I bought it.

It took me a little while to get it all worked out with the peep, but once I did, it came together really fast and really well.

I will probably never shoot the way I did when I was younger because I am just not that steady, but I am definitely shooting better than I was and it's a lot of fun!

If you've thought about adding a magifying lens to your sight, but wondered if it would work for you, here you go. It does, it will, and it's sweet.

Learn to shoot without sights and you won't have to worry about it.

Nothing a little laser cant take care of. I had mono done to mine several years ago and it works great............ as long as you shoot with both eyes opened.
I would advise with the lenses on your bow, to watch out for the sun. You can and will get an angle where the glare will make it impossible to aim.

A red dot style scope works as well.

The lens is fine here in Texas but some states don't allow them... be sure and check the laws when leaving Texas to hunt. Them sight lights will get you in trouble too...
