    Dog Question - Shedding

Anybody have a heeler or aussie that they keep indoors on a regular basis? If so, I'm wondering how much they shed.

I've got a JRT/Fox Terrier mix and she sheds like crazy. She's a great dog, but little white hairs get everywhere so I really don't want to make that mistake again.

I'm not getting a dog anytime soon...just looking for some info right now. Thanks in advance.

Also, if anyone has any tips to reduce shedding, I'm all ears!

I have an Aussie and we used to keep him indoors but like you mentioned he sheds alot. Some people have dust bunnies but we have dust dogs. He likes to sleep in my closet and all my clothes on the lower rack are littered with his hair. Needless to say he is now an outside dog unless it's rainy or freezing and then he sleeps in the mud room. I shaved him this summer and that seemed to help a little bit.

Agree on the furminator. A little more expensive, but definitely worth it.

I have an Ausie & Y. Lab ret. & both stays indoor. The Ausie one use to shed like crazy as well untill I found a great solutions. I 2X to brush daily, & most of all? use conditioners (cheap ones woman uses) on the coat and rub, you'll be shock how much hair your hand will collect when rubbing the coat with cond. Do not towel dry coat just yet, let dog shake off some water of the coat, and brush (rake made for dogs are best to use) the coat while it's still wet. Towel dry and rake some more, do these procedures every day for 1month, and you will see the diffs. Both my dogs are also on Omega 3 (Fish Oil pill 1200mg) Our Vet told me to give them a pill every day, these pill helps the Skin & coat healthy and minimized shedding. It works, you can buy Omega 3 @ any pharmacy or grocery stores. hope these helps and good luck.
