    Are we in the wrong?

My G/F has two catahoula pups for sale. We have them listed on another web site, and a guy e-mailed me about the pups. He said that he wants them, but he lives 4 hours away. He wants us to meet him half way. My g/f is frustrated that he wants us to dive 2 hrs away to meet him. We both feel that this is a little far since we are letting letting the pups go for way under what their value is. Is it wrong that we don't want to meet him half way. I feel that if i wanted something i would be willing to come pick them up, or arrange a delivery, if i wanted them bad enough. Are we in the wrong? Just would like to get yall's opinion. Im by no means a bad or rude person. let me hear yall opinion!

    Thanks,
    Spencer

I don't see you owing anyone anything as far as a deal goes. Nothing was promised.

It is no different than an eBay deal or one in our own classifieds. You set the price for face to face. If someone wants to pay shipping, so be it. It is on them.

Don't know that there's a wrong or right answer for this situation, but from a strictly business perspective, there's also the cost of gas and time to be factored in if you drive 2 hours away to meet the buyer.

Before you came off the price to sell them so cheap did you know you'd eventually have to travel?

On top of that if I knew the dogs were going to a good home I'd probably meet him halfway.

your not in the wrong, but it really could go either way on weather or not meeting half way. it really depends on what the two partys agree to. but i woudnt think your in the wrong, i would drive half way if the help with my fuel.

When I raised dogs all the time, I would have driven 10 hours to make sure they ended up in the right homes, and we did. If it is an inconvenience keep the males and females separated, it's all about where the pups end up.

It's all part of the negotiation. Is your desire or need to sell them stronger than his desire to buy the pups? Or vice versa? Is it worth driving 2 hours to sell the pups worth your time? Would it be worth it if he kicked in another $30-50 for gas? Is it worth saying no only to not be able to find another buyer and have to sit on the pups for another month, two months, three months? How much would it cost you in money and time to take care of them during that time? Or can you find another buyer next week?

Only you can answer those questions. I'm not really sharing an opinion, just giving you some things to think about.

I think I'd ask another $50-$75 or so and make the drive if you really need to get rid of them.
It might make you feel a little better, and if the buyer doesn't want to pay the difference then you have your answer how much he wants the puppies.

he wants the pups, let him come get them.

if you deliver, the price goes up.

                          no, you aren't wrong.

let me play devils advocate...in this economy its a buyer's market, if you have buyers lined up you dont have to drive anywhere..is there any guarantee he will be there if you make the drive, the best way to smoke him out is have him send you a deposit,at least this way if he stiffs you and doesnt show you keep the deposit and it covers the gas, all part of being a dog owner, supply and demand, what the market will bear
