Whe I was younger I wanted big fat tires on my truck because they looked cool, and gas was cheap. Now gas is high. Your fuel economy will decrease with larger tires. I personally still like the look of larger tires, but can't justify the higher cost of the tires themselves, and the increased cost of fuel. You are going to be hard pressed to find a cheap set of 18" tires. I put a set of 17's on my Z71 recently and almost choked on the price. I went with a house brand sold by Discount Tire. They have a similar tread pattern to BFG's and were considerably less in cost. They have a 50,000 mile tread wear out warranty. They were Pathfinder All Terrains. Not sure if they would be available in your size.

Good idea; however, the smallest rim you can put on the F-150 from '04 and up is 17". Even still, you can find some good prices on 17" tires. When my truck first came out, there weren't but maybe 3 AT tires for 18" rims so I seriously thought about getting the 17" rims.

If these will break the bank-he isn't going to have much to choose from. The cheapest and one of the best m/t I've used are coopers.
I've usually bought 2 tires at a time to make things easier on the pocket book ....your first buy, you'll have 2 brands of tires but after that just keep rotating/replacing 2. You'll only need 1/2 as much money at once, as opposed to buying a full set of four tires. By the time the other 2 tires on the truck need to be changed -you'll be in much better shape having the money for 2 replacements.

        My 37" pro comp extreme m/t 's on 20 " rims are running me $450 a pop

sticknstring this is a great idea, but I am going to put bigger tires on this time and i would like them to be the same size. The one good thing is that I do not need the tires right now so I was thinking of buying 2 a time then putting them all on my truck when I finished buying them and really need new tires.

Once again thank yall for the information.

Discount tires has some good buys on ebay and their stores will match the ebay price. I bought some michelin 265-70r-17 Ltx a/s ( 10ply) out the door for 904.00. I didn`t buy the road hazard and you can send in a coupon they give you when you buy 4 tires and get back another 70.00 off the price.(834.00 after rebate). They are the same tires I took off my truck and I had 68000 miles on them and could have gotten another 10000 but they were 6 year old tires and were weather cracking pretty bad so I went ahead and replaced them while they were on sale. They drive great and and do good while in 4x4 .
