    Pop up Question

I set up my popup this weekend on a oat field thast gets alot of traffic in the evenings. Problem is the only cover I have is that it is set under a large oak tree. There is not really any brush and the land owner does not want me to cut down any trees. Will the deer get use to the popup and how long will it take?

take some brush with you or fabricated leaves & grass to try and make it as 3Dish as possible. Deer will get used to it. Should be ok after a few weeks. If you can get it in the shade that will help also.

If you have limbs drooping down around it, then you will be ok after a couple of weeks. It really depends on your deer herd more than anything.

I set a pop up and hunted out of it for a couple of years in the same senario. Under the drooping branches of an oak tree. It didnt take long for them to get used to it. I had a doe walk within a foot of it with me in it.

Time for a lock-on in Oak tree.

And as far as the pop-up.... I'll bet if you toss some corn around a pop-up out in the open, within a day you will see deer tracks around it. They may be spooky but they will come in.

You will be fine with that set up, after a week or so they will probably not pay the blind any attetion.

It will be fine... I have hunted pop ups that are out in the open and had deer all around it. Even some of those cheap ones that turn pink and everyone says they won't work.

x2. We put up the pop ups a couple weeks before opening day last year. Easily seen from the feeders. We hardly even brushed them in. I shot a 9 pt from a PINK pop up at only 20 yards in December. The brush was long dead by then. (Deer can't see red any way LOL)

Are there any little bushes that you could cut? Gotta be something around there you could use. I bet it won't take to long for them to get used to it even if you don't brush it in.

Hey wild d 55 . I have sorta the same problem but i put up my blind about 3 weeks ago and the next day i had deer on my camera . So it dont take long and you dont need to brsh it in unless you want to . Popup are made so you can move them anyways so why brush them in . If you do brush them in then it makes it more work if you decide to move it .

If your pop up is in the wide open, why would you brush it in?? Still gonna be a "blob" to the deer. I believe, the rule of thumb is, if you can see 50yds are more in any direction, just pop up and hunt. If you can't see more than 50 yds in any direction, then brush in.
I have seen deer walk 40 yds out in front of me just after setting the thing up after about ten min and never paid me any mind. Then, kill 2 does the next morning within 15 min of each other with the furtherest shot only being 40 yds. This was with a rifle. Set up on the edge of a 5 acre clearing.

I'm in the camp that in a day or two it won't matter. I've popped em up in the night under a tree and hunted it the following afternoon to have plenty of deer. I don't think you'll get a big buck in that set up but deer will come back quickly.
