Does anybody have any imput on a soundbar surround system for your tv? I see they are space saving and you don't have to spend all kinds of money. I've got some oldschool pioneer 12's hooked up to a sony receiver and being how old it is it does sound good during movies. I want something that doesn't take up as much space in my bedroom though, does anybody have any imput on these??

I have two of the Yamaha's in my house. One is an older 800 model, and the newer one is their 3000 model. They work well. They are at their best when used in a room with walls on either side of the soundbar to reflect sound off of.
There are a couple of different offerings out there. The ones I am using, utilize a microphone (comes with the unit), to automatically adjust themselves to the room environment (or manually if you like tweaking). An amplifier is built in. It provides for surround sound by managing the speaker timing and reflecting sound off the walls.
The second offering is in the same physical form factor but does not have any type of automated adjustments for the room environment to deliver surround sound. It would be similar to using stereo speakers. Typically there is an amplifier built in to these as well.
