HEY Johnny (rain report for deep s. tx??)

    Johnny,

Being told this front is just gonna put on the breaks and dump rain on us here in the rio grande valley for a few days. Some guessers say up to 6" in isolated areas??

    What say you??

I'm kinda glad and mad....starr co. (the ranch) needs all it can get but would like to see my dove fields left alone in the mid valley.

Don't have a weather report for you but, hunted Dilley last weekend. It looked green and the ranch we were on got close to 4 inches. We limited out on birds but the rain did scatter them. It would take a full afternoon hunt to get a limit and before the rain it would seem like it would take 45 minutes. We still limited so no complaints. Love this rain for those boys, especially cattlemen, but I think the fawn crop down there took a big hit with the summer drought.

Yep, this front will stall out but not sure exactly where that will be. Regardless, the Rio Grande Valley area should see some good rainfall out of this over the next couple of days. 6 inches isn't out of the question for areas down that way. You pretty much got it covered.

I'm fine with that and all I can get west of the hidalgo line....good luck Mark!! I have seen run off's so bad while scouting that it seems i'm in reverse on these farm roads more than forward. I refuse to make ruts and done playing in the mud. (9 & 15 ) you got hammered amigo.

Thanks Johnny!! The current radar has a weird bend on that front / edge of the rain line.

elhefe, our fly over in starr is next month...i think you are right but our doe numbers should tell us about the fawn crop and drought. It was really bad...the lowest I have ever seen some of our ponds in over 5 years. We have no wells. I'll just keep my fingers crossed.

I can tell you one thing...when it decides to rain in Harlingen and Los Fresnos......it does some serious typhoon type stuff.
