    Need some javelina help

I am going on a bow/gun hunt in Fort Stockton in February. I am a 97 percent bowhunter, but i am going to take a rifle along just in case. I have been addicted to killing a javi for a few years now, so if it ends up being with a rifle on the last day then so be it. I am going to take my 22-250 as the hunt is for cats and yotes as well. Would a 55 grain winchester ballistic tip do the job on a javi? I want to get my gun sighted in now before it gets cold up here and I hate going to the range when its cold. So I need to pick up some ammo. Thanks for your help!

It will do the job fine, if you do yours. It's all in the shot location.

Took my first buck on the Puckett Ranch just east of there. Saw some real nice Mulies.

I am looking forward to a nice change of scenery. We are always hunting south TX. Never seen a Mulie in the wild.

I varmint hunt with that load except in a hornady ammo. That round will be perfect for what you are hunting. If you dont want to tear the pelt up on the bobcats shoot them in the front part of their shoulder as they are 1/4ing to you and the bullet will not exit just a pin hole. good luck

You've already got your answers, but I agree with them too. I shoot the BST in my AR and my .243. Killed several fox with the .243 near there last year and a good taxi can stitch up just about anything. Now, if you are wanting to skin them to sell, might be a different story? Come on Feb, looking forward to the hunt!
