San Saba rut???

Hunted San Saba last year. Texas Parks & Wildlife's chart pegs the rut at November 24th, depending on where in San Saba County you hunt. We didn't see a real defined rut last year but more earlier in November than later.

Any you San Saba hunters got a better fix on the dates?

I'm about 30 miles NE of you in Mills County. In a year with a hard rut, that sounds about right. Last year ours were about like yours. Acting pretty rutty opening weekend of rifle season and through November, but never saw a real defined 1-2 week period where it was "on".

Last year seemed to be a very odd year. I hunt in the north part of San Saba county on the Colorado river. I have only hunted there the last two season but the first year the rut seem to be about a week after gun season opened. Last year I never saw a good rut but did see some late rutting activity. Who knows. I guess we will have to just get out there every weekend. I had better go tell my wife.

I hunt in Cherokee, southern san saba co & usually if there is a hard rut Thanksgiving week is the time. +/- 1 week

I think this year it runs from October 16th through October 32rd.
