    Ebay Questions

Is there any tricks or thing I should know on post an idem on Ebay? I always post here first of course but if it don't sell on TBH I am planning on posting it on ebay. I never posted anything on ebay before, I have bid on some stuff but never bought anything either. Let me know if there is something I should know....

Best advice on Ebay, whether you are buying or selling, use the system tools such as paypal. Never try and complete the transaction on your own to avoid seller fees, you will only get scammed.I would try buying a few small items before listing anything on Ebay. Many experienced ebayers will not buy anything from someone that doesnt have a good rating or a prior history of transactions

I have an ebay account but have had a lot of success with Craigslist. It's a FTF cash only transaction.

I'm the same way. If you don't have at least 10 positive feedbacks I will not buy or sell to or from you. Ebay has just about as many scams going on on it as it does legit auctions.

          Ebay .... RUN !

as mentioned, there are other alternatives which are safer and don't hit you in the pocket books

during it's infancy, Ebay was much more "seller / buyer" friendly

... now it's nothing but a money making machine with NO consumer support

I use eBay, CraigsList, etc. as well. For eBay, I will not buy something from someone that shows zero feedback. You probably need to utilize another means to sell your item(s), such as CraigsList, or perhaps have a friend / family member that has a good feedback history on eBay, sell the item for you. The only way to build your feedback on eBay is to start making purchases and get a good feedback record in place. Then you move into item sales.

EBAY has no customer support - that's a fact. they don't care about you at all. that said, it's a nationwide garage sale and the first choice for many many people. so I use it because (bottom line) I make money there.

no feedbacks? that'll make it hard to sell. buy some stuff and get your rating up.

no picture of what you're selling? no way it'll sell. good pics = sales.

                  good luck.

I agree with the quotes above. I have been using Ebay for several years now. It has changed in the last 2 or so years. If you sell, have good pics, use the system tools, only use paypal, and get some positive feedback first. If you have a friend that sells, have them list it, and pay the fees that go along with the listing.

Craigslist is just an on-line garage sale in somebody's driveway. You don't know who will drive up to buy something, and you don't know who's selling to you. Face to face transactions only. I buy/sell a bunch of stuff on CL (I just replaced my broken cell phone with a like-new RAZR for $35) but when I'm selling I now will have the person meet me in front of my house, and my garage door is closed- and the nearest bathroom is at the closest MacDonalds. Some people want to meet in a public place, if the seller of an item is a woman I always offer that.

CL in general will not get you the same $ as eBay, simply because eBay has a much broader audience. I sold a Vespa Moped that my son was the 4th owner and trashed for $170- and I had almost dumped it in a garbage container to finally get it out of the garage. Turns out some kid collected them and wanted the parts and his Mom drove almost 3 hours each way to pick it up.

Funny, eBay was founded and is headquartered in San Jose and I've never met a single person who works for eBay in my travels through life.

I cleaned out my garage several years ago, and pocketed almost $700 after the shipping and eBay fees were all paid, not bad for a bunch of computer work. I still have the 2nd karate upper body protective gear from my kids in a bag however.......
