Has anyone else never been dove hunting?

I realized earlier this year when I was buying my hunting license that I have never been dove hunting. I think I've hunted just about everything else in Texas except a banded chinchilla or something like that.

Never really had a burning desire to go but may try it out next year if the timing is right.

Anyway...just wondering if any other TBH'ers have never been dove hunting?

Ive gone one time, but i can't hit the broad side of a barn much less a moving tgt going 40mph . Bily told me he would try to educate me, but i dont think he is good enough to teach me. It may take an act of God!

Have not been, I am too occupied with getting the leases ready and I dont wanna have a blast fest where I am bowhunting. Also I do not really care for them and I wont kill something I wont eat. Now if I went with friends and they wanted then I would be willing. Now ducks and quail, bring it on!

That's pretty much the way I've been in the past (except the eating part...they're delicious!)....

I have doves on my lease but they are at the waterhole which is 80 yards from my primary bowstand!

If dove season wasn't the first and only season every year, I doubt I'd go much. They're FUN to shoot, and it's great to get out and blast away when there's no other game in town. But I'd much rather eat a quail or a pheasant than a dove. I usually give my birds to other hunters. They're good bacon-wrapped and all of that, but it's easier to just cook the bacon by itself (that's the good part anyway).

Man, they are FUN to shoot though, and the social aspect of dove hunting is great. So I go.

I haven't been duck hunting since high school. Again, fun but not my favorite table fare. Having access to quail and pheasant spoils a fella, I guess.

x2....it my absolute favorite time of the year.

There is nothing better than a group of family and friends in a hot dove field calling birds for each other and watching the scene play out.....the smell of dove weed, sunflowers, gun powder, mosquito spray, great food and the cold beer-a signifys the start of a new hunting season and another year of good times.

The camaraderie and fun on a good dove hunt is rivaled only by a good campfire or a great duck blind as far as a group event .... You need to give it a shot Chew...especially with all the Chew Crew members. Its a good way to get them all involved at once....

anyone who hasn't is missing a good time.

Dove season for me is every year the first hunt with my kids (its the easiest hunt on kids), first time I see my hunting buddies, it's about bbq's and talking crap about the upcoming season. Same guys for years and I love em.

Dove are excellent table fare as well!

If you like to shoot ducks, you'll love the action on a good dove field! Like Smart said, you can get the whole crew hunting the same time, and get em all shooting alot!

                          X1000.

Some of the funnest hunting you can do and it's very easy. I don't mean easy as in "Easy to shoot them", but the whole set-up is easy. Some of my funnest hunts have been sitting on the tailgate with my Dad and a cooler full of cold ones. You need to try it. If you do try it, make sure you go somewhere that it is worth your while and there are lots of birds.

I will elaborate, I am really surprised that some people have not been, I thought everybody did it.

Like others have said it's fun for the whole family. Last Saturday, my wife and 2 little girls went. The kids drove their jeep around in the pasture, dogs ran around, and I shot at a few birds. Doesn't get any better than that, except it was hot.

I've never been, but our dove season around here lasts only about 2 weeks. I love to shoot ducks, geese, pheasant, chucker, etc. but I've always wanted to get out and blast some doves. Guess that'll have to move to the top of my list next year!
