Rattlers don't worry me much as they will let you know you are getting too close. Cottonmouth or copperhead on the other hand, they will hold their ground and if you don't see them......bam. I prefer them dead.

Why do so many people have a burning hatred for venomous snakes? I just can't understand the mentality of the only good snake is a dead snake.

I have been bitten by a prairie rattler and a water moccasin. Both hurt like hell and ruined my day, but I didn't kill either snake. If I wouldn't have got the bright idea to pick them up and play with them they probably wouldn't have bit me!

So why do yall hate rattlers so bad???

Actually I still pick up and mess with every snake I can catch. Something about seeing a snake makes me want to chase it down and catch it.

The rattler that nailed me got me really good in the thigh. The water mocassin bit me in the hand, but never injected the hot sauce into me.

Yea and it aint nothing for a 2 year old too pick up a snake. Thats why if it can kill you I kill them. Now I aint got problems with the non lethal type if they bite it hurts but it dont kill you.
