anyone ever hunt in Clay county just got a new lease there just wondering what the deer population was like.

one of the best places i ever had was in clay county. PM widowmaker. he is the resident expert for that area I believe.

Great area! I have a friend who's grandfather owns land up there. The family shoots several big deer every year, and two years ago another grandson shot a 170 + buck, and this property is not fenced.

The state record for the season was taken in Clay county a few years ago.

Lease last year was clay county. Excellent deer populations, but depending on where you are, correspondingly high deer hunter populations. Our area sounded like WW3 on November 1st last year, and all the deer vanished into the night.

Yes it is just south of Bellevue

That area is some prime deer hunting,and like stated above-be patient and they will show up.We are just outside of Jolly,mostly mesquite flats and wheatfields,but a lotta bucks come Nov. Good Luck to you this season!

We have had two places in Clay county, one south of Bellevue and now we are just west of Bellvue. Last year being our first on the new place, we saw some good deer early but not many later in the season. Two weeks ago we went to set up cameras and fill feeders, we saw three really big bucks headed to one of our feeders. They ran off when they spotted the truck, but they were big. Went duck hunting up that way Sunday, and then headed to the lease to check cameras, and put up some pop ups. We got as far as the road to our lease and got stuck. Spent two hours getting trailer unstuck, so we haven't put up pop ups or checked cameras. The guy who leases us the l;and has been seeing good bucks all around our place. I am really hoping for a wall hanger this season.
