I gotta throw my $.02 worth about Archery Country in Austin. I walked in there three years ago without ever shooting a bow. I didn't know squat. (The only reason I went there was the guy at Academy gave me a tip....get the bow that is right for you at an archery shop, have them set it up and tune it, that's the only way to go). So I go into Archery Country and the salesperson helped me get into a "entry level" bow. What I really appreciated was that nobody there tried to make me feel like an idiot newbie. I left there feeling good about their customer service....and that's very unusual these days. They are very customer oriented and helpful. I've since upgraded to a Switchback and who knows....if I get lucky at black jack again, I may have to try a Drenalin. I gotta say though, I wish they would get some more of those good caps....I've got two people hounding me for one.
This isn't an advertisement...it's a real life experience. Ray

Absolutely, Go to Archery Country in NW Austin, I walked in last year as a first time bow buyer, and they let me shoot different bows, recommending why some were better than others. They rigged my bow up at no extra cost, even though i bought all the equipment from Cabelas. Great guys, great buy!
By the way, I got a Matthews Switchback XT, very smooth!

Unless you already have other equipment, give them a shot at providing everything you need. I have always found their prices to be very close to the department type sports stores.
The customer service that they provide is WELL worth any difference I have ever noticed.
