    Double check your equipment

I was waxing my string tonight when I decided to draw my bow back. I've been shooting a lot recently outside and haven't noticed, but inside the house with no noise, I could hear a squeak when I drew back. I was able to narrow it down to my drop away rest. I took it off and took it apart and put some Weatherlock archery oil on the drop away spring and that solved the problem. The bow was tuned so hopefully I got the rest back in the same spot! I'll paper tune it again tomorrow just to be safe.

Anyway it was a good reminder to check all your equipment now so you have time to fix it, get re-tuned and re-sighted in before the opening weekend!

No way I could get one of those back together. I can't even re-fold a map...

It's actually not that hard. Not getting that spring lined up took some patience but other than that it's pretty simple. I bought a bow press 2-3 years ago and started taking my 2001 bow apart and putting it back together. I would even take the limbs off it. I broke it down a few times and put it back together until I was comfortable with it. I also would press and mess with a Genesis just for practice. Once I was comfortable with those, I replaced a string on my 2003 bow. Then moved up to my 2006. Now I'm pressing and working on a bow that is brand new and has yet to go hunting. Most of the time it's late at night or on a Sunday that I have time so I had to learn to do it since the shops are all closed.
