Hey guys, I am new to this sight and I had a question about Rage broadheads and G5. I used a G5 last year on a doe, got a great hit on here but she did not die, too long of a story to get into right now. I think the blades did not deploy. Has anyone used the rage broadheads? I was just wondering if they are any different then the G5? Any help would be great

Ps- Tiffany shoots G5 Tekans!
Im a solid G5 man, but as far as mechanical goes, I would have to say Rage.
If you like G5 broadheads, look at the Montec CS or Striker. They are both throwing about an 1 1/8 and 1 1/16 in. cut.
You have the same problems with both Rage and Tekans though. Blades not delpoying. Ive gone back to fixed, you dont have to worry about it.

Not arguing your shot placement, but if you hit a deer perfect with a Tekan, it will die even if it doesn't open up. They have a 1/2" cut on contact tip, and the blades are exposed on the outside. So, even if it doesn't open, they are about the same cutting diameter as some of the tiny broadheads (e.g. sonic broadheads).
I shot a monster 9pt a couple of years ago with a Tekan II that I never recovered. It looked like the perfect shot. However, on video review, and when another hunter shot him on the last day of season, it was clear that the shot was not in the vitals, but right below them.

Well, for my doe story, I shot her from a 12 ft tripod. it lodged into her opposit elbow and broke the broadhead and 3 inches of arrow off. I found the arrow never found the doe. Three week later out hunting does, saw a good healthy one and took her with the rifle. when skinning her found the broad head still in her elbow, so itook a closer look at ther vitals and both upper lungs were chewed up and nasty, with perfect crosshair in her front shoulder and chest cavity. Again not sure how she survived since I thought I was shooting a healthy doe, I would have shot her anyway had I known it was the one I shot earlier that season. I work in the animal hospital field and have never seen anything survive with lungs looking like hers..... I just dont know freak thing I guess.

Don't want to sound rude by saying this, but do a search on here for Rage and you will see a lot of post! A LOT of people shoot the rage 2-blade and love them! I think they are a great BH, especially for a mechanical. Have you checked into the X-System?
These broadheads look very promising. JMO

I have only shot one deer with a Rage 2 Blade, and it was epic. I could stick my whole hand in both sides, broke several ribs and the arrow was a good 15 yards past the point of initial contact. I have not had trouble with the blades opening too soon and I do shoot a speed bow. In my view there may be other mechanicals that are as good as a Rage 2 Blade, but there are none that are better. I highly recommend them.
