SD Card / Trail Cam Question.

After you upload and erase the pictures from your SD card, Is there anything else that needs to be done before the card goes back into the trail cam? Does it need to be formatted or anything? I am using the Stealth I590 trail cam. Thanks for the help.

Nothing else ..You are good to go . I would make sure you hear the beeps with each step of the switch. Then check that it goes to zero and takes that first pic before leaving. I have the same camera. I have had good luck with mine.

After I am positive I have them saved on my computer, I erase all images and then reformat the card. To do this you click on your start menu and click computer, put your mouse on the drive that contains the SD card and right click, one of the options is format, click format and that will reformat the SD card.

Is there a reason that you reformat the card?

I have a D-40 and just erase and put the card back in the camera. Have never reformatted.

I have had cards before that didnt erase the existing images and when you pull them to check them, you have some new, some old.

Takes 5 seconds to guarantee you are not missing anything, just me, but its so simple to be certain your card is ready to go.

On the I590 and all recent Stealths for that matter, there is a format function ( i believe the icon is a trash can on the display) to delete all pics and format the card for next round. It is a good idea to do every time you replace it. It takes all of 5 seconds and is a formatting known to the Stealth camera so there will be no problems.

I was wondering what the trash can symbol on the display was for. I lost my little manuals that came with the camers. Do I just menu over to the trash can and push the OK button?

Thanks for the info. I am going to swap cards tomorrow and I will do the formatting with the camera just to be sure.
