    Gravity or Spinner Feeders???

Just wondering if anybody has noticed any difference in deer activity between a gravity feeder or the regular feeders with spinners. Seem like more mature deer come to the gravity feeders. I dont yet own a gravity fed, but I am thinking about adding one on my lease. Any input on how the deer act to them, and about how long they hold corn, would be greatly appreciated.

I use them all over my lease and the biggest buck weve seen only come to the trail cam at the gravity feeders. And our lease is in East Texas so we naturaly have a pig problem and I can strap em to a tree high enough they cant reach, but the coons still get at it.

Yea I dont have any pigs on my lease in west Texas, but a severe coon problem. Thats the only thing id be worried about with the gravity fed, is coons just scooping out all the corn. I assume your using the PVC style gravity fed feeders on your lease?

Feeding free choice is great for the deer and expensive because they can eat all they want, any time they want. As far as hunting, they don't do anything for programming a time when the deer might be there. As the season wears on and the certain deer become dominant , whether for sexual or nutritional reasons, the lesser deer will not be able to get to the feeders. A good spin feeder with a strong 12 volt motor can sling corn in a 60-80 foot circle and the deer can spread out allowing the more timid deer to get some groceries too.

Good point, but my problem is not seeing any mature, (dominant) bucks at my regular spin feeder. I was wondering if the mature bucks are more likely to come to a gravity fed feeder. Or if they tend to shy away from those as well.
