I just used a 5 gal bucket and make 3 big piles. I emptied the whole bucket in front of my camera. I have to go back next weekend and help my dad set a stand so I will check it then.

Very light!! Cost about 15 bucks to mix up 15 gallons. I've spent more on a lot worse!!

Soooo....a 55gal feeder will hold just shy of 440#? Mine will hold 300# nicely, I would think it would be much closer to 26-27# for 5gal.

You must not have a true 55 gallon feeder or you have a big funnel. I have 55 gallon drums with no funnels and they all take 8- 50# bags and have room for about half a bag more. so I'd put it at about 425-430# when I fill them.

It does have a funnel, I've never built a feeder with out one. I'm not absolutely positive it's exactly a 55gal drum, could be a little smaller I guess.
