    ? on sighting bow in

I got a new Mathews Reezen 29.5" draw set at 70#, shoots a 400 grain arrow 305-310 fps. My 20yd and 30yd pin are almost ontop of eachother.

    Should i make my pins 20yds, 35yds, 45yds, 50yds, and 60yds? Or 20yds, 40yds, 50yds, 60yds, and 65yds???

    any sudgestions.

i hav a Spot hog 5 pin with the .019 size pin

    I shoot 25-35-45

I like the "odd" settings. about 1/2" difference in 20 & 25 yards so I decided to set my first one at 25. Plus, I can shoot to 50 yards with only 3 pins versus the traditional 4 pin setup (20-30-40-50)

i would go with your second option...

      20yds, 40yds, 50yds, 60yds, and 65yds

Whatever you feel most comfortable with.

With as fast and flat shooting as the new bows are, I use a 3 pin at 20yds, 35yds, and 45yds.

Personally, I'd set the first one at 30. Shoot it from 15, 20 and 25 and see where it hits ... more than likely, it's gonna be within an inch. If it's not, set the first one to 25 and see where 15 and 20 hit. My conspiracy theory on this one ... most people don't shoot at critters out past 25 or 30 yards (unless you're BEN and you're hunting speed goats). If you can shoot your entire "effective range" with one pin, there's that much less to think about when you're drawing on an animal.

The rest of you pins can be set up at 10 yard incriments from the first one. For me, +10 yards is easier to think about than +15 each time. I also prefer to keep the yardage between each pin the same. I like to have 20-30-40 rather than something like 25-35-50. In other words, I like to keep it as simple as possible.

I guess I'm goooofy, I only use one pin, I know how to judge my arrow flight, kinda like a rifle sighted in at 100 yds., you know what to do at different distances. anybody else use just one pin?

I will have to agree with Tt here.

I have tried other pins arrangements once I got my Synergy back in 2007 due to similar pin spacing like what is being talked about.

The problem is, my brain is programmed to think 20-30-40 etc when I look at my pins. I tried something different and did not remember the next time I went to practice until my shot was off and then I thought about it.

I went back to 20-30-40 even if I have minimal pin gaps.

If they are that close I'd set it up for 20 yards and see where it hits from 15-30. You may opt to use only the one pin.
A good one pin "slider" sight may be a better option if your pins are really close to each other.
IMO, the less pin mess you have the better your shooting will be...

I would start at 30 to and do what Texas Taxi said.

This is what I use with a single pin, round guard and an LP light.. I set it at 25 yards and leave it for most hunting.. but I have the option of moving it if needed..
