    Who's afraid of the dark?

What's the scariest sound you ever heard in the woods in the dark?
For me it was one morning walking to my stand when I heard a growling/fighting noise that bout made me jump out of my skin. Once I made my way around some brush I saw two bore coons fighting. I've only heard it that once but it was plum scary.

The only thing that is different between day and night is...at night you can't see what is about to eat you.

I'm not afraid of the dark...it's the wild things that might attack you in the dark.

Sometimes my imagination runs a little crazy on me. Last year while deer hunting in Wisconsin, I was moving my climber stand to a new spot and bumped a black bear when I walked in to set it up during the day. When going to the stand the next morning before sunrise I'll admit I was a little nervous walking in

Never been afraid of the dark. I don't know if it is the fact I have lived in the woods of some sort my whole life, the fact that my aunt/uncle have run funeral homes that we played hide and seek in as kids, or what.

I heard a bobcat once, but the scariest sound I have heard is a fallow deer growl as I was approching my stand. Didnt take me long to get in the stand. I had never heard a fallow before and didnt figure it out until I heard one do it while he was under the feeder.

I was walking back to the cabin in Junction one night/early morning after checking some lines we had in the river. There is something about hearing a rattle snake rattle between your feet, and feeling coil up an your foot that will make you 1) sober up immediately 2) lose your bowel reflex 3) run and scream like a little girl. I did not get snake bit though.

Never been scared of the dark but I was hunting around an old bard beside a gravel road about a mile away from the house with a .22 for rabbits. and heard something so my friend shined the light in the barn and a homeless guy was standing there looking at us..... I think it took us two seconds to get to my house!!

late one evening right at dark i shot about 150 lb boar. i sat in my stand for another 10 or so minutes, it was almost dark. i began following the blood trail, which lead into a thick brushy area towards a creek. my trailing shortly ended when a cougar start-up with it roar and pigs came running through the thick brush. after each roar from the cougar, a pigs would start squealing and after a few minutes the pig stopped and the cougar let out one last roar and that was all. i wish the action would have kept happening because once it was silent it was more frieghtning because when they were fighting atleast i knew where the cougar was. needless to say i never found the pig i was tracking.

An owl screeched not even 10 feet from me one morning when I was walking to my stand. I screamed right along with it and just as loud. After a few seconds of that, I verbally cussed that bird with every cuss word that I knew. That scared the ever living crap out of me.

Another one that stopped me in my tracks was a really really loud boom one morning when I was within a couple hundred yards of my stand. The noise sounded like it came directly from my stand and I swallowed hard a couple of times before I continued on. Once I got there I saw it was a dead tree that had fallen. I would have never guessed that it would have made that loud a noise but I was wide awake long before the sun came up that morning.
