Anyone use Throw n' Go/ No-till food plots??

The product you see in a small bag at Cabelas, Academy or Walmart? The cost of an ATV disc plow and oats at $13/ bag, plus the bleak prospect for rain has me mulling...just buy some Throw n' Go, run over it with fencing material or a cut cedar, and see what happens...'bout $10 per 1/4 acre...

used it last year and i think that if we had gotten some rain it would have done good.

I think you will get about $10 worth of crap. If it really rains then you might get some growth. I have never had any luck with just throw out seeds.

Texastrophy put some out at BAO last year. It came up lush and green. The deer would walk right across it to get to the rye in the same field or they would stand in the middle of it and eat the corn that I had poured in the spot. I don't know if they ever took a bite of it before it finally died out.

I tried it last year on a 30 x 30 food plot to test it out. I have very sandy soil so I had to add 50lbs of lime and another 30lbs of fertilizer but came up really good. We had little rain so I watered it once a week.

I tried it last year but the rain quit a week after I put it down. It didn't grow but given the lack of rain I'd have been surprised if anything did. I'll fence off an area on the new lease and try something else out this year if it looks like the rain will become more consistent.

Supposed to be a wet winter this year, maybe try planting a good plot and put up and "exclusion fence" in the middle to see if they are eating the stuff? If I had a lease, I'd plant it myself.

I tried it a couple of years ago without seeing anything come up. We do have pretty poor soil, however and it was a very dry year so maybe that wasn't a fair assessment of the stuff.

I've used the no plow before and it came up but didn't thrive

I planted the BioLogic Secret Spot last year 3 weeks before opening day and it did good... Only problem was that the deer ate it so fast that there wasn't much left by the time opening day came.

I used throw-n-grow 2 years ago in a spot bordering SHNF. I mowed down the brush with a riding mower and scattered the seed. After we got some rain on it, it came up pretty good. The deer came to it pretty good too, after the acorns were all gone. I would say it's better than nothing, but not as good as a regular food plot or some corn. I've since been told that clover will grow just by broadcasting if you get rain.

It is mostly winter rye seed. Read the contents. Save your self a few dollars and go buy some winter rye seed in bulk. It's also the same grass used on many golf course greens in the winter to keep the greens looking green. Just a tip.

Yep almost all rye grass seed.
It doesn't grow well from what I have tried too.
I'm thnking if you spread it out then mow. The cut grass will cover the seed and it may take root.
Just a theory tho, gonna try it this year and see.
