    I have proof

Some people didn`t beleive me when I said I had seen a rub last week at the lease so I took my camera yesterday and took pictures. One rub is 15 yards from the game camera and feeder but the camera isn`t aimed in the rubs direction. The only deer we had on camera at that feeder was a 2.5 year old 8 point that had hard horn and they were already polished pretty good.We actually saw one more good rub but I decide two pictures were enough.

It is not uncommon for rubs to be around this time of year with the bucks trying to get their velvet off.

I have 5 bucks here in Conroe that are out of velvet and have trees rubbed all over in the woods. Going to the lease this weekend to see what it looks like up there.

I don't think its early for rubs. They're getting the velvet off so it's not rut rubs but they are still a way of marking dominant territory.

I agree with Pat, at this stage the velvet gets itchy, so they rub primarily to get it off rather than for marking, but the result is the same. Stick a camera next to it and see who's visiting!
