Just how long is a coon's arm?

.....long enough to defeat the 1" x 2" varmint guards as seen on a a fellow lease member's feeder............looks like its 1" x 1" minimum now...

Sheesh...at least they can only reach when the long side of the spinner is facing them.....

On a side note, the 14-15 per night coon family and the deer chasing coon were no where to be seen at my feed pens the past three weeks.........

Have you ever greased or crisco'ed the legs? I do and never have coons on the feeder mechanism. They were so bad that they weren't even scared of me and would come as soon as the feeder went off in the afternoon and stay till I left at dark. But they wouldn't climb the feeder legs!

I bet if you get rid of the flies sooner or later the coons will get tired of doing that

                        Coons Rock!!!

Other than a cow, there is not a more athletic/determined animal on a deer lease.

Bring some vaseline and apply it to the legs and all is good.

My sister looked at me funny when I said where's the vaseline after we set a few feeders...... I told here it was for the coons and she just looked at me and laughed. It was a good time as one of her kids with us is a sunshine kid, and he was helping us.

Her hubby is a dauuumn yankee. God bless him, he knew what I was talkin about. Sometimes even deer hunting can bridge the yankee gap. . . .

Coon's should be named Houdini. The harder we work the better they get. I got some little matchbox sized traps off E-bay this week with a hole about the size of a quarter. You put a marsmallow or peanut butter on a rod in the hole and when they try to gab it- Whap. We will see how that works. I may shorten up a few arms ,if nothing else.

I hate them most because of their damage to quail and turkey eggs.
