Check Craigslist I got mine for $475
I am curious as to why as well. Is there a number of hours usage you should change it?

Donnie, I've been looking at Craigslist, not sure what to get just yet.

These are air cooled engines and the oil takes a beating and it holds less than 1 quart. Look at the oil after you have run it for a weekend and I think you will see it needs it. Also if you will turn the fuel off and run it out of fuel when you get through with it you want have carburetor problems. Just a few precautions to make sure it starts first pull.

Makes sense. Would be easy to change oil(should be anyway).

Honda EU series generators would be the way to go....I would suggest a EU6500 just to be safe

I agree on the letting the card run out of gas. I do that with my 4 wheeler and never have had a problem with it cranking up even after it sits for a month or two.

Never thought about the oil that way...I'll be reading the book to see how to change the oil and make it a habit to do.

David...get as big as you can afford/get; the extra power is not going to hurt anything.
Just browser and this is the first on that popped up.
            Here is a Generac 7000EXL

            Here is a Powermate
Powermate generator model 6250 with Briggs & Stratton engine

I have a 5000 continuous watt Briggs and Stratton, average noise level.
I just wish I would have bought bigger, I would never buy anything under 5k continous. I'd rather use extension cords and get a little distance for the quiet. Your going to pay $2K+ for a 5k cont + that is really quiet. My Brigg's cost about $650.
Good luck on your choice, bigger is better IMHO.

I have a pair of the EU2000 you can parallel them and run a 30A travel trailer.. then you have 2 lighter generators... quiet... seen folks addin external fuel tanks to them and you would probably be able to run all weekend on a 5 gallon can..

I second this, I was just about to write the same thing. A buddy just bought two eu2000's and the harness to run together for about $2000. The big advantage is you can pick it up and carry it easily with one hand. The Eu3000 are havier and are a little small for running an ac, I have heard of people ruining the compressor because of low power.

I have 2 EU2000's coupled. It is running a 15k AC, 2 32" LCD TV's in the Airstream along with a bunch of other things. Better route than the EU3000 for about the same price.

Did you buy the 2000 and a 2000 Companion or two 2000's?

I was on the phone today and one place recommended the Companion 2000 because it has the 30 amp RV plug already in place. It costs $100 more than the 2000.

The 2000 was priced at $919 delivered. Thought that was a pretty good price? Any thoughts?
