Have a new setup this year and trying to figure out where to park my truck where it won't affect any deer nearby. How far do you all park away? Is 300 yards far enough, out of site?

How far do you park from your Bow Blind?

This is something I have always wondered because of two schools of thought on this.
First, park as far away from your stand as possible
- The problem with this is you have to walk through the woods longer which leads to putting out more scent and disturbing the woods more. It also takes you more time to get to the stand, could start sweating more, and it is a longer walk.
Second, park closer to your stand
- Less time in the woods as far as you walking to your setup, but your truck or atv is closer to your stand.
I don't think that trucks and/or ATV's bug deer as much as we think. I have had count less times where I walk back to my truck to have some sort of game just a few yards away from it. Right now I try to go with a happy medium. Of course my favorite is to be dropped off at my stand.

my old ag teacher used to always say that he'd park it right next to his deer stand. his reasoning was that the deer were going to smell the wheeler anyway, either next to it or on the wind... and the sad thing is, he'd usually kill a nice deer.
I choose to park at least 150 yds away, if possible more.

I agree with Heath, I have 2 parking spots for each bow stand. Morning or evening, & North wind or south wind. Animals will be transitioning differently with their travel corridors from morning to evening. I try my best to stear clear of bedding areas for morning hunts. I think 200 - 500 yards is plenty.
But I also love being dropped off. This eliminates walking in on & spooking bedded porkers. The vehicle will scare them off & give you time to get in & settled before they come back.
