...not to put a damper on perfection, percision, or anything else....but just what is it in YOUR particular situation that provides you pleasure when shooting a bow??? If it's cutting the x-ring, practice targets...if it's hunting, then once you get good and familar with your bow, release etc., practice hunting scenarios....I move around, shoot from behind things and at different ranges going foe the kill zone. Like with a golf swing, if you burden yourself too much with mechanics, you just might forget how to play the game...above all, have fun....

The only pleasure I get from hitting the X is knowing I hit where I was aimin'......I am all about the hunt.....period.
Just like in shotgunning....I love to shoot sporting clays because I hit where I was pointin', but it's all a process I go through for that Sept dove hunt or cold winter duck hunt.

It is just like shooting a rifle. If you are a benchrest shooter, you arent happy unless you are shooting one hole groups but an average rifle hunter will be fine with a 2" group at 100 yards. A target archer wants all his shots in the x but as a hunter, if you can keep them all in a softball at the range you plan on making your shot, go get em. You seem to be a lot like myself. I want my hunting rifle to tie holes and my hunting bow to break nocks. It is all in the fun of it in the end.

To get to the point where I felt I could shoot any bow well and be adaptable to most situations? Not all that long, but I am very competative in nature and I made shooting my whole world for about two years.
Confidence is all about attitude. Believe it, know it, and do it. Once you get your shot routine down, all you need to do it aim. Archery is so easy!

you stated your all about the hunt. Doublej said something during the IBEP class that i have put into my pratice routine.
1st we all know the first shot of the day is the one that counts, but he added.
"run the 20 yards to your target and back, pick up you bow and shoot"
it really gets your heart and muscles pumped, like when that deer walks out.
I like you, want to hit where i'm aiming and used to rate myself on that during my pratice. now i rate my first shot and the rest is for staying in shape.

I am also very fortunate to have an excellent pro/coach help me in my shooting. I never leave there without shooting better or feeling more confident...I just don't make it out to see him enough due to distance.
I imagine come mid summer when its too hot to fish, he'll see me every weekend..
