There was good article on the Judge in a recent American Rifleman. The problem is I have never read a bad review in that magazine. If you want to shoot snakes I'd look at it instead of shooting shot shells from a .45, etc. Just my 2 cents.

I carry a Springfield XD .45 and love it.
The judge is an accurate gun with the .45 LC, Get the CT laser on it and it will be even better. Now I will say its not a 50+ yrd target shooter, but you load it with 3 rds .410 buckshot and 2 rds .45 LC Buffalo Bore 325gr (Caution, it will kick like a mule) it will get the job done no problem. Look on gunbroker.com you can find one cheap. There are very reliable.

Definatley a revolver don't want to get a semi auto caught in the brush going in after a hog

I disagree about the judge. I think you would be far better suited with a .357 magnum with a 4 or 5 inch barrel. Get a used Smith and Wesson or Ruger or possibly a Taurus. With the .357 you can also shoot .38 special (even rat shot) and not spend a ton of money like you will with the .45 Colt. Granted, the .410 shells are cheap, but they don't pattern well out of a rifled barrel.

Get a good stout .357 that can take Buffalo Bore ammo and you have a gun that can do ANYTHING you need it to do, including taking down hogs.
