You lost at least 48-51 gr IMO to gain that kind of speed! Check it on a scale.
A lot of hunting rigs going over 300fps nowadays.......if the arrow weight is right the K E should be good and better than before.....maybe close to the same but the speed gain is a plus!Last edited by KingsX; 08-20-2009, 09:27 PM.

In a nut shell KE is measured by simple formula below :
Arrow speed x arrow speed x arrow weight divided by 450240 = KE at bow

Arrows kill by cutting and slicing organs, veins and arteries. A bullet kills by destroying organs by transferring the energy of the bullet to the animal. In my opinion, KE matters for bullets, and is only marginally important for archery. Increasing your speed will reduce your pin gap slighly, making a mis-estimation of distance less important. Arrow flight and grouping (tuning) and shot placement (practice) and razor sharp broadheads (buy or sharpen yourself) are more important.

KE doesn't mean all that much in shooting arrows. A good sharp broadhead and a well placed arrow will do the job at 150 fps!
I prefer my heavier arrow 550 gr. aluminum and a my 235 fps vs. something light and fast.
The bow is a lot quieter with a heavy slow arrow.
The faster the arrow, the faster the miss.Last edited by Swat791; 08-23-2009, 10:00 PM.
