My daughter is 3mths old, and the DISH network subscription will not be renewed when it runs out. There is alot of junk on there, specially for kids. I like Fox News, and the Outdoor Channel. Thats bout it.

She will get DVD's that have been pre-approved. Hopefully she will play outside more than watch tv.

    Definitely no sponge bob

Is violence in a cartoon really violence?

My favorite of all time was the Coyote & Roadrunner, just because of all his contraptions. I could watch Tom & Jerry, Foghorn Leghorn, and Sylvester & Tweety for hours, Scooby Doo was greatness before Scrappy. Always hated Bugs Bunny, still wish Elmer would fry him up with gravy and nail his hide to the barn door.

By the time they are old enough to know the difference... a square sponge looking for panties on TV is the least of your problems...
Never thought of it this way.....very very good point!!!!

My oldest (9) is allowed to watch cartoons, but the other one (3) isn't. We found that there are all sorts of things like this in most cartoons, and even if they are trying to show that bad behavior is the wrong course of action, it still shows the kids that bahavior. I've had my litttle one come up with all kinds of stuff that she saw on cartoons that was presented as a "lesson" but they try it anyway. I'd rather her not get any suggestions on how to behave badly even if they are trying to be constructive. Fine to try to correct a borderline kid, but if you have a kid that behaves, don't give them ideas!

I let my daughter watch Sponge Bob...she starts Kindergarten next week and there's nothing sillier than an elementary student that doesn't know how to use cuss words properly...

              BARNICLES!

Turn it off, you're the parent, she's the child. Her temper tantrums will subside and tell her if they do not, she'll loose all TV until she shows she can act responsibly. There is no law or religious rule that says kids MUST watch TV, or have internet access, or cell phones.

If she says "Why? All my friends can?" tell her you don't think it's OK, girl's panties are their private stuff and should not be raided by somebody else. It's not funny, it's sick.

You need to take the alpha role now, or you'll be kicking yourself hard when she turns 13 and you've 'lost control'.

Good luck, it's harder than I think it will be.

Wait until she starts the pre teen slamming bedroom door thing.

Pop it off the hinges and put it in the garage. "When you can treat you door with respect, you'll get your door back. You can change in the bathroom for privacy if you need it, unless you slam that door too" It worked. I love my kids.
