Taken from my box blind with feeder at 17 yards.....I have a sendero to the right (pictured) and one very similar on the left (not in pic)......both visible leaning again the back of my blind looking through my two open windows...... I can see them coming for 90-100yards.
this feeder is only 13 yards from my blind....the way i like it This is from last season with my video camera....i have not seen the 13 pt. yet but i do have that 8 pt. coming in
I had a set up I really liked. I was well hidden and down wind from the open area. Lots of deer and hogs moved through here.
Had been feeding this stand pretty good for close to two months. And seen a few nice tracks moving through there. With a nice rub line just of in the woods on the other side of the feeder. I had asked my lease manager if he minded if I hunted the area, and showed him where I was going to be set up on an photo. A week before season open, I get a phone call saying that I was set up on another lease and that he was sorry that I was going to have to move it. The guy who had that lease had told my lease manager that if we wanted to pass through it, that it would be fine. Extended into our lease. Well the guy is a Doctor from West Texas and never gets over this way to hunt. But for some reason he just happened to slide in one evening and seen the feeder. He said it took him a few mins to find my ladder stand.
So I ended up with this one. And seen a few does at it, but that was about it.
I moved this set up last year from the edge of an open field to inside the timber. Only moved it 100 yards but since I don't rifle hunt, I wanted to be in some thicker cover. I can't see maybe 45 yards in any direction but I can shoot 30 yards in at least 3 directions.
Only photo is w/a cell while pig hunting the other day. Between games on the phone (it was kinda slow) I snapped this shot just for the heck of it. I have a game tamer 16' up and 23 yards from this hanging feeder. No feed pen. Seen tons of deer from it last year (and hogs) and can't wait for season to open this year!
