I knew the jabs were coming. Na, those targets are too expensive!
My electronics collection has taken a beating this past year. My wife tried to tell me last night that she was going to keep the camera and I had to get it from her to use it.
It was a little hard to argue my point that I was resposible enough too have the camera after I shot one and sent another to the bottom of the lake.

Jeremy, I just purchased an Olympus Stylus 770. This camera is a little more than $250 but, it's real handy for people like you and me who are kinda hard on them.
It is waterproof to a depth of 33 feet and shockproof to a drop of 5 feet. It's very small and I've gotten a habit of carrying it in my pocket most of the time. It's really nice to carry in my wader pocket and not have to worry about it getting wet.
The only downside is the 3X telephoto.

This cost more than you asked for. You might consider looking at one of the pocket camers in the $150 range now and add this later.

FORGET all that. Buy the Olympus 720SW which is shockproof from 5' and waterproof to 10'. Buy it from B&H camera think the website is somthing like www.bhphotovideo.com and you will never regret your decision. I am just waiting on Tyge to get ready to upgrade video and make me a deal I can not refuse. hehehe

I just bought another Pentax optio. The new version is the OptioW20 which is waterproof, and shock resistent. It comes with a lanyard that you can hang around your neck and drop the camera in your shirt pocket. It is standard equipment for me when I go in the woods or on the water. It takes great pictures and has internal memory as well as a SD card slot. The lithion/ion battery is awesome. I charged mine when I first got it, and have been out fishing and on two hog hunts and well over a hundred photos and the battery still shows to be completely charged. Got a spare battery when I got the camera, but haven't had to use it yet. It is also in your price range. You can get a deal on line, but I just bought mine at one of the local computer/tv/got everything-electronics stores for $299...

I got that same exact camera that you are looking at awhile back and have been really happy with it so far. IMO for the money you almost cant beat it. You were asking bout the zoom? I was taking pictures out to like 150 yards with it and they were great!! After you take the pic. you can go back and zoom in some more and the quality of the pic will stay really good. Just my .02

Got this camera and bundle recently..a great bargain and very nice camera.
The camera alone is only 255.00 could not find a lower price anywhere and the reviews were great as well. Takes awesome pictures and has a nice zoom range and megapixels for its price.
The printer is great, a 1mg card that holds over 5,000 pics in 640Xmode and over 1,700 in the 1280X range well worth and a VERY GOOD value for an additional 50.00 with the other goodies.Last edited by Fitz; 03-25-2007, 08:01 AM.
