    South Plains Archery Club / Hunters Tournament

    A few of us at the club are kicking around an idea of a "Hunters Tournament" that will take place in July during our 2 day tournament. I wanted to get some input to see if anyone has held one, been to one, etc.... Also I'm interested in what might be added to lure people in and what drawl backs we might have.
    This is what we are looking to do:

    15 to 20 targets set in a hunting situations.
    Range finders allowed (as you would use them for hunting).
    Some shots will be made from pop-up blinds, behind netting, low tree stands (6' max), etc....

    The scoring will be 12, 10, 8, -5, 0
    12 will be what would be considered the 10X location
    10 will be the normal 10
    8 will be the normal 8
    -5 will be anyplace else on the animal as you would have wounded it or tracked it in a normal hunting situation.
    0 will be if you opt to not take a shot or shoot and miss (scaring the animal away)

    We are looking at have a possibility of 3 classes:
    Open = movable sights
    Hunter = fixed pins
    Unaided = bare bow / traditional

    Any thoughts or suggestions?

      Never heard of them before now. I read the info on their site. Ours will be someone like that but less structured and more generic. Hopefully it will be a lot of fun!

        Sounds like fun. I am sure we can come up with some neat shots, maybe a turkey in a tree?
